A folder is the first physical impression of a proposal, so start with stock: 14pt C2S with matte or gloss aqueous coating is the professional standard; 16pt soft-touch, linen and felt-textured papers feel noticeably richer; natural kraft communicates sustainability. Then choose the structure. Standard 9" × 12" two-pocket folders hold letter-size inserts; legal folders, 6" × 9" mini folders and 6-panel tri-folds cover contracts, small collateral and heavy proposal kits. Reinforced or expanding spines carry thick decks.

Finishing is where folders earn their keep. Hot foil stamping and raised spot UV on a logo, embossing on textured stock, and business-card slits in the pocket are inexpensive upgrades that get a folder kept on a desk instead of recycled. Quantities start low for digital runs and drop sharply in price at 250, 500 and 1,000 on offset.
