Planning a booklet, catalog or book
Binding decides everything. Saddle stitching (two staples on the spine) is the economical choice for 8 to about 64 pages: programs, lookbooks, zines, newsletters. Above that, or whenever you want a printed spine, perfect binding glues the pages into a square-backed cover — the standard for catalogs, annual reports and softcover books. Wire-o and coil binding lay perfectly flat for manuals, workbooks and calendars, and hardcover case binding is for books meant to last.
Page counts for stitched work must be a multiple of four, and every job needs a cover stock heavier than the text: 100lb gloss text inside with 14pt or 100lb cover outside is a proven pairing.
