Clear Roll Labels — How to Get the "No-Label" Look Right

Why brands pay for a label you're not supposed to see

A clear label makes the product itself the packaging. The amber of a kombucha, the gold of a facial oil, the frosted glass of a candle jar — all of it shows through, and your type and logo appear to be printed straight onto the container. It reads as screen-printed glass at a fraction of the cost and with none of the minimums. Our Clear Roll Labels are transparent BOPP film with an optically clear adhesive, available in Standard Clear or glass-like Crystal Clear, with optional white-ink underprint, lamination and foil.

Standard Clear vs. Crystal Clear

• Clear Polypropylene (Standard): a very slight haze that is invisible on coloured liquids, frosted glass, tins and dark plastics. The economical default for most products.
• Crystal Clear Polypropylene: optically pure film for clear glass and colourless liquids — gin, vodka, water, clear soaps and serums — where any haze would show as a faint rectangle. If the container is clear glass and the contents are clear, choose Crystal.

White-ink underprint — the decision that makes or breaks a clear label

CMYK ink is translucent. Print red directly on clear film over a brown bottle and you get a muddy brown-red. Print a white layer first and the red is red. So every element on a clear label falls into one of two groups:

• No underprint: the element becomes a tint over the container. Great for subtle patterns, watermarks and dark type on light contents.
• White underprint: the element is opaque and colour-accurate. Use it for logos, product names, photographs and anything that must read from across the room.
• White ink alone (no CMYK on top): crisp white type that appears etched into the glass — the signature clear-label look.

Avoiding bubbles, ghost edges and lifting

• Apply to a clean, dry, room-temperature surface. Wipe glass with isopropyl alcohol first — fingerprints show as rainbow patches under clear film.
• Use a squeegee or roller from the centre outward. Hand-smoothing traps air; a roller removes it.
• Rounded corners hide the label edge far better than square corners, which catch light and read as a visible line.
• On tight curves under 1.5" diameter use a narrower label or wrap fully so the seam overlaps — clear film is stiffer than paper.
• Choose the Aggressive adhesive for cold-fill lines and low-energy plastics; Permanent is right for glass and PET at room temperature.

Finishing options

• Gloss lamination: adds scuff resistance and keeps the film invisible. The default for beverages that live in coolers.
• Matte lamination: turns the label into a frosted panel — a beautiful effect on clear glass for spirits and skincare.
• Soft-touch lamination: velvet-frosted feel for luxury fragrance and serums.
• Foil stamping: gold, silver, rose gold or holographic foil on clear film gives a floating metallic logo. Pair with white-ink type for the premium spirits look.

Are these labels made in the USA?

Yes. Every roll is printed, die-cut and finished in our Houston, Texas facility — made in the USA — and we ship nationwide to all 50 states with same-day dispatch on orders confirmed before 11 AM CT.

Are clear labels really invisible on the bottle?

On coloured liquids, frosted glass and dark containers, yes — only the printed elements show. On clear glass with clear contents, choose Crystal Clear film and rounded corners to keep the edge from showing.

Can I print full colour on a clear label?

Yes. We print a white-ink underprint beneath any element that needs accurate, opaque colour, and leave other elements as translucent tints over the container.

Are clear roll labels waterproof?

Yes — BOPP film and UV-cured inks are unaffected by water, condensation or ice buckets. Add gloss lamination for products that are handled or shipped loose.

Why does my clear label show bubbles?

Air trapped during application. Clean the surface with alcohol, apply from the centre out with a roller or squeegee, and store labels flat in their bag before use.

Can I add foil to a clear label?

Yes — gold, silver, rose gold and holographic foil stamps are available and create a floating-metal effect on glass.
